Chris found CrossFit in 2017 and was instantly hooked. Welcomed by a strong community of coaches, he quickly realized CrossFit was more than a workout—it was a path to total transformation, both mentally, and physically.

KELSEY

CrossFit Level 1

Coach Kelsey is a native to the Eastern Shore and loves what it has to offer. She has been doing CrossFit since 2013. She enjoys doing all types of fitness. Her main goal when training others is to make sure they are enjoying the workout and have good movement. JAMES

CrossFit Level 1

Born and raised in Baltimore, Coach James relocated to the Eastern Shore in the year 1990. He coached youth Ice Hockey in the Easton MD. for 20 years and enjoyed watching and playing several sports throughout life which include Football, Baseball and Ice Hockey. Jemes started his CrossFit journey in 2018 and joined the CFA coaching team in 2023. The most rewarding part of coaching for James is seeing the level of confidence and progress rise in peoples fitness journey.

MICHELLE

CrossFit Level 2

Michelle (aka Coach Watts) has been CrossFitting for over a decade and coaching at CFA since 2013. What started as a hobby quickly became a lifelong passion, shaping not only her health but also countless friendships and life-changing experiences along the way. Over the years she’s worn many hats at CFA—athlete, coach, manager, and owner—but her favorite role has always been helping others push past limits and discover their own strength. As a busy mom of three, Michelle knows firsthand the importance of balancing fitness, family, and community. Whether she’s on the lacrosse sidelines cheering for her boys, proudly being a dance mom for her daughter, or coaching athletes on the floor, her heart is always focused on building others up. Michelle is excited to continue serving the CFA community as a coach and looks forward to supporting athletes of all levels in their journey toward health and confidence.

DAWN

CrossFit Level 1

Coach Dawn joins the CrossFit Assateague instructor team after seven years of CrossFitting. Whether she is working out next to you or coaching you, Coach Dawn will always be encouraging to dig deep. Well known in the box for her positive spirit she is often caught singing along in the middle of her own workouts. When she is not at Crossfit she devotes her energies to her two daughters and the early childhood home visiting program, she helped found twenty years ago. •CrossFit Trainer Certificates: L1

PRIVATE WHINER

Complaint Department

Introducing Private Whiner, the most explosive member of our ranks. He enlisted straight out of Boot Camp Grievance, trained extensively in the art of sighs, grumbles, and dramatic eye rolls. When the pressure builds, he’s the first to pull the pin and blow up your complaints. Private Whiner may be small, but don’t underestimate him—this little grenade packs a big blast of sarcasm, sass, and comic relief. His official duty? To absorb whining, defuse excuses, and remind everyone that the gym floor is for sweat, not sympathy. Nicknamed “The Boom of Doom”, Private Whiner takes every gripe seriously… before detonating it with a laugh. If you’ve got complaints, hand ’em over—just be ready to duck.

Logan has been an athlete for her entire life and loves spreading her love for running into the gym.

LISA

CrossFit Level 1

A gymnastics since the age of 7, Lisa earned a full Division I scholarship to the University of MD. After graduating, she fell in love with CrossFit after her first class in 2012. Lisa has been coaching CrossFit for 8 years and previously ran an affiliate of her own for 5 years. She enjoys coaching because she helps people become better versions of themselves through fitness. She is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at Salisbury University and in her free time she loves spending time with her family and being on the water. •CrossFit Trainer Certificates: L1 •CrossFit Accomplishments: CF Games Masters Athlete 35-39, 3x CrossFit Regional Competitor •PhD in Exercise Physiology, NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Precision Nutrition Level I Nutrition Coach, USAW Level I Coach

DAVID

CrossFit Level 2

Coach G has been CrossFitting since 2014, and what started as a way to stay fit quickly became a passion and a second family. Alongside his wife Michelle (Coach Watts), he proudly served as a previous owner of CFA, while also filling just about every role — athlete, coach, and (as he likes to joke) “gym janitor.” His favorite part, though, has always been helping athletes push past limits, move better, and discover what they’re capable of. Known for his energy, creativity, and never-ending smile, Coach G is the one who makes even the toughest workouts fun and memorable. When he’s not at the gym, you’ll find him serving the community as a full-time firefighter and paramedic with the Ocean City Fire Department, or cheering with Michelle for their three kids at all their sporting events! •CrossFit Trainer Certificates: L1, L2, Kids

Coach Sandra joined the CrossFit Assateague instructor team in February 2013 and brings high energy and more than 12 years of experience in teaching group fitness classes to clients of all age groups. MAXOUT

Rep Enforcer

Meet Mr. Maxout, the iron-hooved guardian of CrossFit Assateague. Legend has it he once roamed wild and free on Assateague Island before wandering off in search of heavier lifts and tougher challenges. He found his way into our gym—and never left. Part stallion, part drill sergeant, he’s built to sniff out half-reps, lazy squats, and unfinished burpees from a mile away. With horsepower forged in sweat and steel, Mr. Maxout makes sure every athlete pushes past their limits and earns every single rep. He’s not just a mascot—he’s the living embodiment of grit, strength, and discipline. When Mr. Maxout trots through the gym, form sharpens, bars move faster, and excuses disappear. His motto? “Full range or no gain.” Whether you’re chasing PRs or just showing up for the grind, Mr. Maxout is here to keep you honest, push you harder, and remind you: more reps, more horsepower.
